Overview of the Onset HOBO MX1101 Bluetooth Humidity and Temperature Data Logger

The Onset HOBO MX1101 Bluetooth temperature/humidity data logger measures, records and transmits temperature and relative humidity data. It uses advanced Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to send data wirelessly to mobile devices (Android or iOS) over 100 feet. Onset’s free HOBOmobile app lets you view graphs of data, check status, share data and configure alarm notifications. Data can be sent from the app to a desktop computer running HOBOware (free download) or sent as a PDF report. This logger is an excellent choice for any application where you need to place the logger in a hard to reach location.

Customer Questions
Can I place several data loggers in one home and get a reading off each one? is there a free ap to read data on smart phone? Thanks

Yes, each logger will show up in the app.  You can only connect to one at a time to download/view data but multiple loggers can be accessed from the same app which is available for free for iOS and Android mobile devices.   You can name each logger to make identifying them easier.

Can sampling frequency be set once an hour? By software?

Yes, you can set the sample rate/frequency when you configure the logger using the software.  It can be set from between once per second to once per 18 hours.

The software is available as a free download.

what is the calibration fees? Do we need that?

The calibration is an optional service that we offer.  It provides you with a certificate showing that the individual logger you purchased was tested and found to be within its specification for accuracy.  The test is carried out by our calibration lab which is accredited ISO 17025:2005.   Calibration is not required and the logger will be just as accurate without it.  Generally speaking you would only purchase this optional service if you were required to by a governing body.  The fee to have the logger tested at a single temperature and humidity point is $96.00 per logger.

1. Is it possible to connect a 2- or 4-meter external temperature probe for tracking actual refrigerator temperatures or for freezer applications (while keeping the RH probe internally, still)? 2. Can this data logger, HOBO MX1101, connect to a CX Gateway (CX5000 by Onset), for remote notifications of faults (low battery, etc.) & T/RH excursions, and automatically download data from loggers within range of the CX Gateway? 3. If above (Question #2) is possible, how many multiple HOBO MX1101's can be supported by a single CX5000 gateway?

The MX1101 isn't compatible with the CX Gateway nor can it be used with external sensors.  The only loggers that can be used with the gateway are the CX series of loggers which unfortunately aren't available with humidity sensors.  The CX line is designed for use in fridge and freezers.

There has been some talk from Onset about expanding the gateway into their other Bluetooth products however we can't say at this time how long it will be or if it will even work with the existing line of Bluetooth loggers.
