Overview of the Reed Instruments R5003 AC Voltage & Current Data Logger

The Reed R5003 AC Voltage & Current Data Logger can simultaneously measure 2 AC voltage inputs or 2 AC current inputs or one each of AC voltage and current. The logger can store up to 256k true RMS measurements with user programable sample rates. The R5003 can be powered by 4 AAA batteries or by using the included AC adaptor. Recorded data can be downloaded via USB and either analyzed with the included software or exported to Excel. The LCD simultaneously displays time/date, current readings, and max/min readings. The case features integrated magnets which allow it to be mounted to metal surfaces.

Customer Questions
is there a three channel version of this logger? What software comes with it, as in, what does the software do? Also, what platform does the software run on? Windows, MAC, IOS?

This is the only AC Current & Voltage logger from Reed that we sell.  We do sell other brand loggers that have more than two channels though.

The software is used to set up and configure the logger as well as read out the data.  It operates on Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8.  We have been told it works fine on 10 as well but we haven't tested it yet or formally been notified by the manufacturer.

Can it be left running off the AC adapter so as to record periods longer than the 5 day battery life? I need to record over a period of about 4 weeks without need for intervention to change or replace the batteries.

Yes, the logger can be set to run via the AC adaptor instead of the batteries for extended periods of time.

But please bear in mind the storage capacity of the logger once it reaches the limit of data storage it will stop recording.

What is the accuracy between 1 and 10 amps?

The manufacturer doesn't publish the accuracy spec for readings of 1 to 10 amps as it is below the rating of the device.  The current sensor isn't sensitive enough to accurately sense current levels that low.

As you approach 10 amps it might start to become more accurate but since they don't spec it for use below 10amps they don't publish that accuracy curve.
