Can i use this to monitor home temperature while away from home.? Can i observe current temperature when away or does it only send alarms when temp is above or below set points/

This device only sends an alert if the temperature conditions you set are met. 

We have other devices that allow you to check the most recent reading remotely but they require that the device be placed within range of your WIFI network.

If you have an existing WIFI network within the range of your RV I would suggest looking at the Lascar EL-WIFI-T.  This device will allow you to access your temperature data remotely.
