Concrete Curing Data Loggers

Monitoring concrete temperature during the curing and hardening process is critical to achieving maximum structural strength and preventing costly cracking, delamination, and premature failure. As concrete cures, it generates heat through an exothermic chemical reaction — and if temperature differentials between the core and surface become too large, or if the concrete cools too quickly in cold weather conditions, the structural integrity of the pour can be compromised.

Thermocouple data loggers are the preferred solution for concrete temperature monitoring because thermocouples can be embedded directly inside the pour, providing accurate core temperature readings throughout the entire curing cycle. Single and multi-channel loggers allow engineers to monitor multiple points within a single pour simultaneously — capturing both core and surface temperatures to calculate the differential and determine whether heating blankets or cooling measures are needed. For large pours or mass concrete applications such as bridge abutments, foundations, and retaining walls, multi-channel loggers with four or more inputs provide a complete thermal profile of the structure as it cures.

MicroDAQ carries concrete curing thermocouple data loggers from leading manufacturers including HOBO, ACR Systems, Lascar, TandD, Testo, Measurement Computing, and Reed Instruments, with options ranging from simple single-channel USB loggers to WiFi and Ethernet-connected multi-channel systems for remote monitoring of large-scale pours. Our non-commissioned Technical Sales Representatives are available by chat, email, or phone to help you select the right logger and thermocouple configuration for your project. MicroDAQ also provides ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited calibration services for thermocouple loggers using Type J, K, and T thermocouples across a wide range of temperatures.
