How do we know when the battery should be replaced? Is there an alert before the unit just stops working?

The battery in this device isn’t replaceable.  It will typically last 1.5-2 years depending on usage.  When plugging the logger into the software to configure it you will get a low battery warning once the level drops below 20%.  Once you get this warning it’s recommended that you replace the data logger.
