How thick is the lead to the sensor? I was thinking of using it with the lead inside a refrigerator and I don't want the door seal to leak.

The sensor cable uses two conductors connected together by its insulation.  If laying flat the cable is approximately 4mm wide by maybe 2mm tall.  Very similar to light duty speaker wire.
