What is the difference between the ring buffer and the auxiliary memory?
The ring buffer continuously records the most recent 1,000 shock events — older events are overwritten as new ones occur. The auxiliary memory records events exceeding a second, higher threshold and cannot be overwritten. This ensures the most critical impacts are always preserved regardless of how long the device has been running.
