Overview of the MSR175 Shock and Temperature Data Logger

The MSR175 is a small, robust, stand-alone transportation data logger that utilizes high-resolution sensors that accurately and continuously record what happens to your goods during transportation. The recorded data can be used to ascertain possible damage or used to improve transport and shipping packaging. The logger features two internal 3-axis accelerometer sensors that can record +/-15g and +/-100g respectively as well as an internal temperature sensor that has a range of -20°C to 65°C. The logger can measure and record shocks and jolts at a frequency of up to 6,400 measurements per second. The internal non-volatile memory is capable of storing over 2 million measurement values which is enough for up to 1000 shock events. The MSR175 is built with an internal 230 mAh LiPo-battery which when fully charged can power the logger for a recording period of up to 8 weeks.

Setting up the logger and viewing the data is done using a powerful package of software which include the easy to use MSR Dashboard, MSR ReportGenerator, and MSR ShockViewer. The MSR Dashboard allows you to easily configure the logger with just a few clicks of your mouse! The ReportGenerator gives you one click access to a compact report while detailed analysis can be done using the ShockViewer software. Convenient export feature allows you to export and view data in Microsoft Excel or as a CSV text file, and to generate a PDF report. You can even merge data from multiple MSR175 loggers for a comprehensive report on how to improve the shipping process.

Customer Questions
Can this device be linked to a GPS tracking system
The MSR 175 series of logger aren't able to connect to a GPS tracking system at this time.
Is there a specified method to mount the transportation data logger?
The logger comes with a mix of screws that can be used to attach it to a wooden crate.  We've also had customers use zip ties and/or Velcro straps to fasten it as well. The body of the logger has two metal mounting tabs that you can use to secure...
Can the accelerometers be reconfigured to measure tilt instead of acceleration. And if so, what would the accuracy be?
No, the only value the device can provide is G force.
What is the hole spacing of the mounting tabs?
From center to center of each mounting hole the distance is 36.5mm.  The diameter of each mounting hole is 6.4mm.
Can the accelerometer be configured to stop without being connected to the computer?
No.  The logger can be set to start at a specific time however the only way to stop it is to connect it to the computer and use the software. Here is a link to some video tutorials on how it all works  - ...
How many days will the unit run on internal battery only? And how about with the external battery version?
The standard version of the logger will last for as long as 2 months and the extended battery version can last up to 2 years.  Please keep in mind that battery life will depend on environmental conditions, the frequency of shocks the device is subjected...
